This church originally was called Southside Baptist Church built in 1974, as a southern Baptist church. This congregation consisted of all nationalities of people, but because of dwindling membership the congregation split. Thus leaving the members to turn to Jackson County Baptist Association for assistance and as a result of this Rev. Willie Scott came down from Atlanta, Ga.

In February of 1992 under the leadership of Rev. Willie Scott, Providence Baptist Church was established. Rev. Scott, at this time was pastor of Providence Baptist Church of Marietta, Georgia.

Under the direction of Rev. Scott, Rev. Sam Anderson was chosen as pastor in 1992. Under his leadership new carpet was purchased, the pews were recovered and a Day Care was established. Also Bro. George Smith and Bro. Eddie Sherrod were deacons under his leadership.

In 1998 Rev. Renaldo Weaver was chosen as pastor and under his leadership a tape ministry was started. New P/A system was purchased, and also purchased under his leadership a school bus and van.

In 2001 Rev. Paul C. Ceasar was chosen as pastor. Under his leadership Providence Baptist Church choirs were started. One year under his leadership the mortgage on the church property was paid off. The sanctuary received new paneling and fresh paint.

The trees were cleared off in 2003 for a new parking lot, and a new air condition was purchased for the sanctuary.

In 2004 new tables and chairs were purchased for the fellowship hall.

In 2006 a new van was purchased and paid in cash. The parking lot was paved and paid in full, and kitchen was enlarged and remodeled.

In 2007 ceramic tile was laid in kitchen and fellowship hall.

A Sanctuary remodeling project was started in July 2008. New doors, carpet, choir chairs, pews, pulpit furniture and a hardwood floor were also put down in the pulpit. This project was completed July 8, 2009.

In 2009 the brotherhood was organized and established as band of born-again believers of Providence Baptist Church.

In 2010 a board of trustees was established and place in position, under the leadership of Rev. Paul Ceasar.

In 2012 we re-established and re-organized the mission department with renewed commitment and leadership.

In 2012 Sis. Essie Ceasar started a junior girl’s mission and was named Girls in Action. Better known as G/A’s of Providence Baptist Church.

In January 27, 2013 Bro. John Collins and Bro. Eric Padgett were ordained as deacons of Providence Baptist Church. Also in July 2013 the brotherhood remodeled the men and ladies facilities.

In January 4, 2016 the pulpit, choir stand, and baptism pool was move from east main entrance to the west end by the fellowship hall. In addition to that a balcony was added as well. The finance office and pastor study were utilize as the new men & women restroom facilities at main entrance. The Sanctuary remodel with new sheet rock, choir stand, new carpet, finance office and pastor study. The foyer received new ceramic tile, usher office remodeled and the wood was strip and re-stained.

In 2017 trees were removed and dirt brought in on north side of the church to expand our parking area.

In 2018 new metal roof was completed and new windows put in the sanctuary. The brick columns in front of the church were torn down and replace with new columns. The old front glass entrance doors were removed and new wooded doors installed. Deacon Micheal Packer was added to the deacon board at Providence Baptist Church.

In 2019 a mural was place on wall in baptismal pool.

In 2021 the old ceiling was removed and a new wood ceiling was installed.
